Portius Pince

Golden bridge to Poland

This exceptional winery in Gomboshegy was founded by young wine enthusiast Richárd Hörcsik Jr. The budding winemaker began grape production in 2003. His passionate work soon caught the attention of the Polish Portius Society, and in 2006, the winery opened its doors under the name Tokaj-Portius, in honor of Robert Wojciech Portius—a famous 17th-century Polish wine merchant who greatly contributed to promoting Tokaji wines internationally. The winery's vineyards are rooted in renowned historical sites such as Rudnok, Király Hill, Kincsem, Megyer, Feketehegy, and Rány—all prestigious regions in Tokaj-Hegyalja.

"As a result of the diverse volcanic soils, respect for nature, and meticulous, expert winemaking, Portius Winery produces elegant, exciting, and bold wines.

When making my wines, my goal is to emphasize the individuality of the vineyards and terroirs, recognizing and consciously utilizing the opportunities each vintage provides. Our vineyards are located in historically significant sites with outstanding qualities. One of my favorite wines is the elegant, high-structured wine made from Hárslevelű grapes grown in the Kincsem vineyard."
